For All Mankind season 5 has cast three new stars as series regulars, revealing character details for the newcomers to Apple TV+'s sci-fi series. For All Mankind season 5 began filming in July 2024, with the story jumping to 2012 where the Goldilocks asteroid has become the center of a mining operation on the newly-built Kuznetsov Station. While not much is known about how the series will progress from this point, it’s unsurprising for new characters to be introduced as older ones age and fall away from the story of US space expansion.

The cast of For All Mankind is constantly changing, with new faces continually cycling through because of the massive time skips that happen between seasons. However, Asserson, Cruz, and Kaufman have proven themselves as talented actors in the previously-mentioned works they've been in, making them key additions to the newest season. This especially goes for Cruz's Lily and Kaufman's Alex, both of whom are likely to be important for passing the generational baton from one familiar character to their children.

For All Mankind season 4 ended with plenty of cliffhangers for its core characters, such as Miles' uprising against NASA's treatment of detainees, and Kelly seeking life on Mars as the new mining station gets up-and-running. However, Asserson's A.J. indicates there might be more involvement with the US military going forward, with the Marines getting involved in operations away from Earth for unclear reasons. However, with so much still unknown about season 5, there's no way of knowing for sure what roles each of the newcomers is going to have.
Our Take On For All Mankind Season 5's New Cast Members
The Next Generation Is Taking Over
With Alex and Lily being the children of established characters, it seems clear that For All Mankind will be directly passing the baton to the next generation. Given the show's plans though season 7, as previously confirmed by creator Ronald D. Moore, it makes sense for the series to begin highlighting younger astronauts and adjacent characters who will wind up taking over for the aging cast. With a nine-year time jump already confirmed, the next season is going to feel much different in contrast to what came before.
